William Jones

The partners and team at Ogier are devastated to announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague, William (Will) Jones.

Will, who was a partner in our Cayman Dispute Resolution team, died on 6 June 2023. We extend our deepest sympathy to Will's family and friends.

Will was a member of the Ogier family since 2003 and played a foundational role in developing our Cayman disputes team and the Cayman practice as a whole.

Will was recognised as a leader in his field by colleagues, clients and industry. He was a much loved and respected member of the Cayman community where he grew up. Will was known for his kindness and integrity, his calm manner, his encyclopaedic knowledge of Cayman law, and being a prize winning fisherman.

Will was an exceptional litigator and advocate who regularly appeared in the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands and took a number of cases up to the Privy Council.

Outside work Will was a devoted family man, husband to Joyce, and father to Maddy and Rory.

Thank you to all those individuals and organisations who have sent condolence messages. The overwhelming response to Will's passing underscores how deeply loved and respected he was in the Cayman and wider international legal community.

He was a truly great man and it was a privilege to work alongside him.
